"A Handup Not a Handout"
Since 1968

Mission Statement

The purpose of Good Neighbors is to help families and individuals in times of crisis and need with clothing, emergency food, and support.

Brief History

Good Neighbors, Inc. was formed in 1957. On June 6, 1968, the Cuyahoga Falls Unit was officially opened with the assistance of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ and the Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church. The unheated quarters of the unit would serve until cold weather arrived and a previously rented home on the same property was vacated. This house served as the units home until 1971.

When Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church built their new church specific plans for CFGN space were made. On January 6, 1971 the unit was relocated into the church and opened to continue to serve those in need. The Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church also supplied additional space for CFGN's School and Christmas Programs. In 2007 the church building was sold and we were required to relocate. During May of 2008, with the help of the First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls and the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, we were relocated to an unoccupied Sills school building. In early 2011 the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools decided to abandon the Sill building which forced us to relocate again. Once again, the First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls stepped in and offered us space in their church. The space was suitable for providing food for our clients but we had to suspend offering free shoes, clothing, and household items due to space limitations.

In July 2014, generous donors in the local communites provided the necessary funds to purchase our present building at 1742 2nd Street in Cuyahoga Falls. We renovated the building and relocated to it in November of 2014. We now provide clothing, shoes, paper goods, personal items, and small household needs to our clients in addition to food.  Food is provided to income eligible families and individuald based on current Federal Poverty Guidelines.
In 2019 we distributed over 100 tons of food to our clients.

CFGN is staffed 100% by volunteers

We rely on donations and financial contributions from individuals, churches, civic and social organizations, businesses, and foundations to help those we serve. Without this support we would not exist.

Donations of nonperishable food, clothing, coats, shoes, diapers, personal care items, blankets, and small household items are always needed.

Items can be donated at our building on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Monetary donations can be sent to  CFGN  P.O. Box 233 Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44222
With the help and support of the community we make a difference in the lives of the many people we serve
